Even though circumstances beyond her control prevented us from getting to know her beforehand, there was an almost instant bonding/trust that occurred between her and my wife. She was an invaluable aid to us from then on.

It became clear that she was known and respected in the hospital and that her very presence set the tone for the type of delivery that we were expecting – that of a 100 percent natural childbirth.

She was extremely knowledgeable in every detail of the childbirth process. Due to her calm, loving, and non-threatening personality she was able to put my wife at ease at a level and in a way that no man could ever do with a woman. I credit her presence and her action to perhaps being the most critical factor to my wife having a successful, textbook vaginal birth. This is especially of note, as our first child required a C-section after a long, grueling 20-hour labor experience.

Encouraging your wife not only to have a doula present, but the right doula to assist is one of the most important things a husband can do for his wife. I would recommend in the strongest possible way having Leigh Fenly as your doula.”
