Leigh Fenly is certified through DONA (Doulas of North America), the largest national association of doulas. She is also trained as a lactation specialist. She is the mother of three nearly grown boys. She has participated in the volunteer doula program, Hearts & Hands, at the University of California San Diego.
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas and was a science editor and medical writer at the San Diego Union-Tribune for more than 10 years.
She also has a master’s degree in fine arts from Vermont College and currently studies archaeology, with a special interest in birthing traditions and cultural differences.
